An obtuse look at prohibition from alchoholic eyes

Well, Prohibition in Gujarat is a sick joke on which drinkers laugh while drinking :) and majority of the drinkers are policemen, advocates, magistrates, judges, government officials and politicians. so that makes it a joke. People who are supposed to protect the law, breaks it, so how can the law survive ?

Prohibition provides opportunity to make easy money for criminals, as liquor doesnt get sell officially in gujarat.. they get it smuggled from other territories around gujarat.. generally, liquor in gujarat comes from diu daman, rajasthan or maharasthra border.. if you want to buy whole box of whisky or rum you can get it easily in state-border small towns.. i.e Una near Diu, surat near daman, ahmedabad near rajasthan.. vapi near bombay.. it comes from there..

Here in my town, rate of whisky is around 500 of medium brand and of good brand rate is around 700.. now suppose.. if i want to buy 8pm whisky... it will cost me around 500.. and in Diu.. it's MRP is 120 rs.. so if you manage to get two whisky bottles in your bag from Diu.. you can get almost 3 times money in jusr crossing the bare border :D.. so its profitable business.. isnt it ? and the most criminals are eneducated.. they dont have any legitmate way of earning big money.. so all they do is smuggle liquor and bootleg...

Chandrakant bakshi was once asked by someone that if he wouldnt have been writer, what would he do ? he said if woudnt have been writer, i would bootleg liquor into gujarat because thats most profitable business right now... and its true..

An unjust law is not law it all, now Its funny ban.. on paper ban.. i have been to ahmedabad.. and i can write down name of places.. which run "STANDS" yes.. "STANDS" thats what its called.. like riskhaw-stands.. bus stands.. Liquor-stands.. get it? I can give you address of stands in ahmedabad where Daru gets selled like as in Bar in other states.. you can get quarters,halfs,fulls of anybrand any time..24 hous.. 365 days.. doesnt matter what the situation is..

Here are the example address of two such stands in ahmedabad

1. Just go to Gomtipur.. and ask to anyone local rikshawala about Hussain's english daru, any rikshwala will give you address.
2. Go to sarkhej and Ask of Navdurga..this place is my favourite.. u know.. as there is police chowki very near to it.. You walk across to police chowki, you go to Navdurga..you sit and drink there (like a bar, mind you).. and you walk pass the police chowki again.. drunk this time.. too much fun !

and The law itself is so funny.. When i came to ahmedabad one woman friend mine told me.. here you can drink anywhere.. here there.. anywhere.. and even if police sights you drunk.. they wont arrest you.. i was shell-shocked,excited and jubilant.. i asked her.. why is that? She explained.. if a police arrests you for drinking.. he will have to take you to Hospital for alchohol check-up.. then he will have to take up to police station in lockup room.. after that.. they will take to the court.. and You can get bail in court for just 300 rs (100 rs for puchasing some guy's license for bail, and 200 of advocate).. cheap isnt it ?... and incase if have no money.. and you dont want to get free on bail.. then the Court will send you to the jail.. the same policement who has arrested you will have to take you to Sabarmati jail as His duty on his personal vehicle.. Now, sabarmati jail is kind of 30 kms away.. so 30 kms of going + 30 kms of coming back..that would require 1 litre petrol of 50 rs to policeman who has arrested us.. and 2 hours to do all this procedure.. now who would do all this for crime of just 300 rs?

If you confess in court, then judge will do fine of 500-1000 rs and leave you alone :) .. I have seen many people drunk in courtrooms too :).. hehe..

So its not worth all.. the prohibition is funny and uneffective.. and moreever.. it makes the law funny in people's eyes.. once you break one law, you will get tempated to break another.. thats how it goes..

People have no faith in law order and justice cause of such uneffective prohibition.. People kind of start thinking that whatever is illegal can be done without much effort.. and doing illegal things gives one kind of kick too.. isnt it ?

Vijay malaya often barked about Revenue losses gujarat has to bear cause ban of alchohol..forget about revenue losses..Just think.. People are drinking anyhow even cause if prohibited.. and same amount of alchohol is consumed.. so.. now think.. how much money goes to bootleggers and criminals yearly? i think around 10,000 crore rupees.. as Its black-market and in Black you have to pay twice or thrice much compared to base price :D.. all these money goes to politicians, criminals, bootleggers..on which they dont pay any kind of taxes and in plus they all spend all these money in illegal acitivites..

Network of desi-daru(Laththo) is far more complexed and spread than of english. Talking about saurashtra.. here in Bardo dungar.. there are hundreds of bhaththi which produces quality desi-daru.. You call a number.. you order them how much you want.. and one delivery boy will deliver it to you anywhere in area of 250 kms..in just 2 hours.. you have to just pay 100 rs more for that.. so its easy.. money-producing,organized, crime syndicate.

Government has applied prohibition on base of morality and as Gujarat is state of mahatma gandhi (The quote at begining of post is said by Mahatma gandhi.. funny isnt it?).. Now.. neither mahatma gandhi or morality comes in way of alchohol business..

so Its all a sick joke..Whenever you make a prohibition, you also create an underground related to it :)

Anyways.. i dont care.. as long as i get my favourite brands whenever i want.

If you are not knowing whats that, its Pakistani music show and its way way different from our so called music shows.

In this show all the music maestros like Ustaad rahat fateh ali Khan,Ali Azamt,Atif Asalam,Ali Zafar and bands like strings and Josh perform to create a new blend of music fusion and mind you this is not just any other mediocre attempt. Its phenominal to say least.

Those who have seen/heard it need no explaination but if you have not see it man, The fusion of western and eastern music you are gonna see/hear is spectacular.

Finally writing at the place , i and kunal have been planning for couple of months.

I have been pretty irregular with writing since last year, cause of my weird routine, have been just writing journals and diaries.

So, Now i will regularly spread my stuff over this blog, and i will use this opportunity to explore different arenas and zones of writing. What i can promise is that, the stint here is not going to be steady or predictable,but random and dark.

Even i don't have clear idea about what i am going to do here, so all i can say is..Buckle you seat belts dorothy!, cause kansas is going bye-bye !
